Youth face many challenges in the workplace. Employers often say that young adults come across as too loud and self-absorbed. After they are hired, they become lazy and careless with their work. Youth also tie their appearance in with their identity, and they have a problem when their boss asks them to remove or cut whatever to satisfy the customer.
Social intelligence is defined as “The capacity to effectively negotiate complex social relationships and environments,” or the ability to understand and manage men, women, boys and girls, to act wisely in human relations." Its important because it teaches youth how to quickly adapt to a foregin situation. It shows you how to change as a person to become a better leader.
One thing that stood out to me while reading this article would be the paragraph about the Lt. Colonel who was able to disarm the emotions of the village people in Iraq . He used his Social intelligence to defuse a high intensity situation.
